The Institute of Food Science and Biotechnology comprises 11 independent research divisions that have direct ties to industry. The transfer centres facilitate communication between cutting-edge university research and companies, start-ups and industry suppliers. They are therefore key to innovation and technology transfer in food science and biotechnology at the Hohenheim campus.

Main mission:

• To provide scientific services to companies and suppliers in the areas of milk and milk alternatives, grains, plant-based raw materials, meat and meat alternatives, distillation and fermentation technology, and biotechnology and microbiology.
• The institute supports the development of healthy, sustainable and high-quality foods, dietary supplements and functional ingredients.

The centres offer pilot plants, technical facilities and consultancy services for process optimisation, digitalisation, resource efficiency and the biotechnological production of valuable materials.
